Conferences, minimum days and early release
- October 12–16, 2026: minimum days at the elementary schools for parent-teacher conferences. The calendar lists no conference week for grades 6–12.
- Thursday, June 10, 2027: last day for elementary students, a minimum day.
- Middle schools set their own early-release days. Sequoia: "Every Tuesday is a minimum day/early release day ending at 1:30 pm" (bell schedule). Redwood is piloting early release every Friday in 2026–27, with sixth period ending at 1:40 pm (schedule). Sycamore Canyon releases early on Tuesdays: middle grades at 2:05 pm (schedule).

The calendar calls progress reports "referrals." A progress report is the first written sign of how a new grade is going, and the guide to signs a child needs a tutor covers what to look for in one.
Deadlines and testing this year
- Tuesday, October 27, 2026, 6–7 pm: virtual information night on transitional kindergarten (TK and kindergarten).
- Monday, November 2, 2026, 8 am: School of Choice applications open for 2027–28, due February 1, 2027 at 11:59 pm. The School of Choice guide explains the lottery. TK and kindergarten enrollment for 2027–28 also opens November 2.
- November 3, 2026: deadline for parent GATE referrals; referred students are screened December 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027 (GATE guide).
- Spring 2027: CAASPP testing. CVUSD's CAASPP page says its window begins in March and ends on the last day of school.
- Spring 2027: registration for the June Challenge Exam and Boost Exams. The 2027 dates aren't posted yet; in 2026 the deadline was May 15 (6th-grade placement, Boost Exams).
- Late April to early June 2027: GATE screening for every 2nd grader.

When is the first day of school in CVUSD for 2026–27?
Wednesday, August 19, 2026, for all grades.
When is the last day of school in CVUSD in 2027?
Thursday, June 10, 2027 for elementary schools, a minimum day, and Friday, June 11, 2027 for grades 6–12.
When is spring break 2027 in CVUSD?
March 29 to April 2, 2027. Friday, March 26 is a local holiday, so students are off from March 26 through the weekend of April 3–4.
When are CVUSD elementary parent-teacher conferences?
October 12–16, 2026. Those are minimum days at the elementary schools; the calendar lists no conference week for grades 6–12.
Is there school on Veterans Day?
No. Wednesday, November 11, 2026 is a holiday with no school.
