In 2026–27 Redwood is piloting a new schedule, approved by the school board on March 18, 2026 and modeled on Los Cerritos Middle School's. Classes run until 3:10 pm Monday through Thursday, and Fridays end early, after sixth period at 1:40 pm, with RISE (Redwood Intervention, Support and Enrichment) time built in. The school says drop-off and pick-up times stay the same for families (Redwood bell schedule).
Music centers on the Viking Marching Band, which combines the Beginning, Concert and Symphonic Band classes, with String Orchestra and choir as other electives (Redwood electives). Students use school Chromebooks through a 1:1 program, and the school lists GATE, EDGE, Outdoor School, Viking News and the WEB mentoring program among its activities (Redwood).
