Study Skills and Organization Tutoring
Study skills tutoring is one-on-one or small-group teaching in organization, planning and study habits. At Thousand Acorns Tutoring, Adriana, a California-credentialed teacher, teaches every session herself, in your home, online or in a small group of 2–4. Tutoring is $80 an hour in your home or online, or $50 an hour per child in a group, and the first consultation is free.
What study skills tutoring covers
Organization, planning and study habits.
Middle school brings more of all three. Students move between several classes and teachers, and many schools have a weekly early-release day; at Sequoia Middle School, for example, every Tuesday ends at 1:30 pm. Grades arrive in quarters and semesters: CVUSD's first quarter ends October 16, 2026.
How she teaches study skills
In her words: "Everything is different per student and the grade they are in, but I will focus on whatever hands-on training and education they will need to get ahead." Her sessions are hands-on and keep students engaged, with positive reinforcement and connections to real life.
When families usually start
- At a progress report, when missing assignments show up. CVUSD middle schools sent the first on September 18, 2026, and the next go home November 13.
- In the move from 5th to 6th grade, before the new routines set in.
- Before semester finals. CVUSD's first semester ends December 18, 2026.
Progress
At the end of every session, she goes over with you what your child covered, so you know what they're supposed to be learning. Tutoring can't guarantee a grade.
