Simi Valley schools
Simi Valley Unified serves the city and the unincorporated county area around it (VCOE profile). Its school list shows 18 elementary schools, which teach kindergarten through 5th grade with TK on selected campuses, and three middle schools (SVUSD schools):
| Elementary (K–5) | Middle (6–8) |
|---|---|
| Arroyo, Atherwood, Berylwood, Big Springs, Crestview, Garden Grove, Hollow Hills, Katherine, Knolls, Madera, Mountain View, Park View, Santa Susana, Sycamore, Township, Vista, White Oak, Wood Ranch | Hillside, Sinaloa, Valley View |
Most are neighborhood schools. SVUSD's School Boundaries Map has separate maps for elementary and middle school: find the colored area where your home sits and click its red pin. Simi Valley's White Oak Elementary, on Alscot Avenue, is a different school from White Oak Elementary in Westlake Village. Separate pages for Simi Valley schools are planned; until then, this page is the place for SVUSD dates and programs.
Three schools take students without attendance boundaries. Hollow Hills and Vista, listed as fundamental schools, admit kindergartners by lottery with sibling priority, and the Dual Language Academy at Arroyo admits by application (SVUSD enrollment). Almost every other school accepts School of Choice applications from outside its boundary while seats remain; for 2026–27 those were due February 6, 2026, and 2027–28 dates aren't posted yet.
At Valley View Middle School, 6th graders are grouped to take either all honors or all general academic courses, and 7th and 8th graders can choose one honors class or all of them. The catalog lists honors English, science and social studies, plus Accelerated Math, without placement criteria (Valley View).
Arroyo's Dual Language Academy and GATE
Arroyo Elementary's English–Spanish Dual Language Academy opened in 2024–25 with TK and kindergarten and adds a grade each year. Spanish is 80% of instruction in TK through 1st grade and 50% by grades 4–5. For 2027–28 entry, parent meetings are at 8:45 am at Arroyo on November 10, November 17 and December 1, 2026 and January 19, 2027; the interest form opens November 17, and the priority deadline is December 17, 2026 (SVUSD dual language).
SVUSD identifies gifted students in grades 2–5 with the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, given in early December at a district school site. Parents can ask the classroom teacher for a GATE testing referral at the start of the school year or during fall conferences. The district publishes no qualifying score (SVUSD GATE).
