PVSD assigns schools by a Tract Code Book: on the Find Your Neighborhood School page, look up your street and address range, then read the elementary and middle school columns. Newer streets may be missing, and for those PVSD asks families to call (805) 389-2100 ext. 1109. Each Camarillo school will get its own page later, and in the meantime this page covers Pleasant Valley's schools together. Families who want a different PVSD school apply in the intra-district choice window, which ran January 26 to February 13 for 2026–27 (PVSD open enrollment).
Santa Rosa's magnet program and GATE
Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School, a TK–8 school on Santa Rosa Road, describes "a computer science immersion program for all grades" (Santa Rosa).
For gifted education, PVSD tests all 3rd graders once a year, in the spring, with the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), and also tests 4th and 5th graders who enrolled after the last window. The district says "GATE identification is not based on the testing alone": it also weighs the Renzulli-Hartman Scale, achievement records, work samples, other test scores and teacher input. Students can qualify through intellectual ability, high achievement in both English and math for two years in a row, or specific ability in one of them (PVSD GATE). PVSD doesn't publish middle school math placement rules, so ask Las Colinas, Monte Vista or your TK–8 school directly. The guide to fractions in grades 3–5 covers the fraction skills that 6th-grade math builds on.
