About Lindero Canyon

Lindero Canyon Middle School teaches about 799 students in grades 6–8 on Larboard Lane in Agoura Hills (Ed-Data). Its About page says it was one of 78 California schools named a 2015–16 "Schools to Watch – Taking Center Stage" model middle school (LCMS).

6th graders choose one elective, or enter a lottery for Zero Period PE so they can take two. The choices include band, strings, choir, art, leadership, yearbook, the Dual Immersion Program and an exploratory wheel of STEAM, music and introductory Spanish (future 6th graders). In 7th and 8th grade, honors English and social science placement uses district criteria, a teacher nomination and an honors committee's decision (LVUSD honors).

The school calendar lists California Junior Scholarship Federation trips each November: Catalina for 7th graders and Yosemite for 8th graders (LCMS calendar). For incoming families, Lindero Canyon held a 5th Grade Parent Night and student orientation on March 18, 2026, and a WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) orientation for new 6th graders on August 14 (important dates).

Math placement for Lindero Canyon students

Las Virgenes sets each student's 6th-grade math level (Math 6, Math 6 High or Math 6 Accelerated) with a placement test at the end of 5th grade and teacher referrals, and publishes no score cutoffs (LVUSD). Students arriving from outside the district take the test at Lindero Canyon (Lindero Canyon dates), and the Las Virgenes placement guide explains the levels. Thousand Acorns Tutoring does not offer placement exam prep.

Lindero Canyon's own math page shows the course flow as Math 6, then Math 7, then Pre-Algebra or Algebra 1 in 8th grade. It tells students to expect math homework at least four times a week, and its teachers offer help before school, at lunch and after school (LCMS math).
