About Red Oak

Red Oak Elementary opened in 1993 (OPUSD history) and teaches about 553 students from TK through 5th grade on Rockfield Street (Ed-Data). The fenced campus uses three colored gates for arrival and dismissal, and the green gate connects to Indian Springs Park; the handbook also notes solar panels and water bottle refill stations (handbook).

The school uses a Multi-Tiered System of Supports and teaches social and emotional skills explicitly. Specials, art classes and a P.E. aide are funded partly by optional parent donations, and Club Oak Park runs before- and after-school care on campus (Red Oak).

Red Oak's mission is to "empower students to develop a love for learning and compassion in a safe, inclusive community," and its students are the Rattlers. Optional parent donations pay for educational software (IXL, Reflex and BrainPop) and art classes, and parents volunteer as room parents, library story readers and classroom helpers (Red Oak).

Every grade starts at 8:15 am in 2026–27, with gates opening at 7:45. TK ends at 12:15 pm, kindergarten at 1:15 pm, grades 1–3 at 2:25 pm and grades 4–5 at 2:50 pm, and Wednesdays end early. Red Oak students continue to Medea Creek Middle School (MCMS enrollment).
