About Willow

Willow Elementary teaches about 461 students from TK through 5th grade on Laro Drive in Agoura Hills (Ed-Data). In April 2025 the school announced that it had been named a 2025 California Distinguished School (Willow news).

Willow staffs a long list of specialists: a full-time visual and performing arts teacher, a P.E. specialist, STEAM and garden specialists, a media center coordinator and a science teacher for 4th and 5th grade, plus a full-time counselor and a full-time intervention specialist (Willow). The school uses Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and the No Place for Hate anti-bias program, with "Big Four" behavior expectations and "Caught Being Good" tickets recognized at Friday assemblies (handbook).

In 2026–27, every grade starts at 8:15 am, and Wednesdays are early-release Staff Collaboration Days. LVUSD Plus provides after-school care and paid enrichment classes (handbook), and 5th graders have an Outdoor Ed Week from March 8 to 12, 2027.

Math placement for Willow students

Las Virgenes sets each student's 6th-grade math level (Math 6, Math 6 High or Math 6 Accelerated) with a placement test at the end of 5th grade and teacher referrals, and publishes no score cutoffs (LVUSD). District 5th graders take the test in their own 5th-grade math class (Lindero Canyon dates), and the Las Virgenes placement guide explains the levels. Thousand Acorns Tutoring does not offer placement exam prep.

Key dates for Willow families, 2026–27

Subjects that fit Willow students

Willow's intervention specialist and counselor work with students during the school day. Tutoring is a separate choice families make for after school, at home or online. For 5th graders, LVUSD's math placement test at the end of the year sets the 6th-grade level, so elementary math in 4th and 5th grade covers the ground it draws on, and reading and phonics and writing cover the literacy standards.

Prices for Willow families

Tutoring is $80 an hour in your home or online, or $50 an hour per child in a small group of 2 to 4, and the first consultation is free. All prices and terms.
