About Conejo Academy

Conejo Academy of Leadership and Language Immersion is the oldest school in the Conejo Valley. It opened in 1877 as Conejo School, with 54 students, near today's Westlake Boulevard, and moved to its Conejo School Road site in 1924. Formerly Conejo Elementary, it belonged to the Valley Oaks School District until 1974, when Valley Oaks and Timber merged to form CVUSD (Conejo Academy). It had about 276 students in TK–5 in 2025–26 (Ed-Data).

The school calls its program the Conejo Valley's first Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion program, with the goal of students who are bilingual, biliterate and multicultural. It uses a 50/50 model: English language arts, math and health are taught in English, and Spanish language arts, science and social studies in Spanish. The program began in 2022–23 with TK and kindergarten and adds a grade a year, reaching 4th grade in 2026–27 and 5th in 2027–28 (DLI page).

CVUSD asks immersion families for at least a six-year commitment, and incoming students are assessed in both languages in late April or early May (DLI page). The school also uses The Leader in Me leadership program and describes itself as having Lighthouse Certification, and the campus includes the Conejo Memorial Garden (Conejo Academy). Its addresses feed Colina Middle School in CVUSD's street index.
